Tulsa Men’s Tennis Falls To In-State Rival Oklahoma, 4-1, Saturday Night

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa men's tennis team lost to in-state rival No. 8-ranked Oklahoma in a 4-1 decision Saturday night at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The No. 29-ranked Golden Hurricane falls to an overall 6-3 record, while Oklahoma improves to 6-3 overall.
 
Oklahoma's No. 37-ranked doubles pair Alex Ghilea and  Andrew Harris (No. 1) defeated Dylan McCloskey and Matthew Kirby in a 6-4 decision to take a 1-0 doubles match lead. Tulsa's No. 52-ranked doubles pair Carlos Bautista and Juan Matias Gonzalez (No. 2) defeated OU's No. 57-ranked doubles pair Axel Alvarez Llams and Spencer Papa in a 6-3 decision tying the doubles match score at 1-1. With the doubles point on the line, Oklahoma's Austin Siegel and Andre Biro defeated Or Ram-Harel and Dominic Bechard in a 6-4 decision to take a 1-0 match lead going into singles play.
 
In singles play, Oklahoma's No. 60-ranked singles player Axel Alvarez Llams (No. 1) defeated No. 94-ranked singles Carlos Bautista, 6-3, 6-1, to extend the match lead to 2-0. Momentum was with Oklahoma as Florin Bragusi (No. 3) defeated Dylan McCloskey, 6-3, 6-1, lengthening the lead to 3-0. Majed Kilani (No. 5) defeated Andre Biro, 6-1, 6-2, to earn TU's only match point, before Maxime Mora (No. 4) defeated Juan Matias Gonzalez, 6-3, 7-5, to clinch the 4-1 Oklahoma victory.
