Ashley Clark, Ashley Hughes and Kelsee Grovey all scored in double figures to lead Tulsa to a 76-63 win over Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon at Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.  TU moved to 11-18 on the season and 8-10 in the American Athletic Conference, while UC fell to 8-20 overall and 4-13 in the league.

Clark had a team-best 27 points, while Hughes had a season-best 14 and Grovey added 10.  Te'era Williams pulled down 10 rebounds and Clark had eight boards and five assists.

"That is what you want to see out of your seniors," Head Coach Matilda Mossman said. "We don't have that many games left and they played with great urgency and consistency today. Hughes hit a three early on and then a couple baseline jumpers, which was great to see that from her because she is certainly capable.  She has been in the gym and putting up shots, and today helped her confidence and it came at a really good time."

Tulsa had a 32-28 lead in rebounds, an 18-10 advantage in assists, a 6-3 lead in steals and a 4-1 advantage in blocks.

TU had 28 points off the bench, 20 points in the paint, 19 points off turnovers, 12 fast-break points and eight second-chance points, compared to Cincinnati's six bench points, 24 points in the paint, 12 points off turnovers, four second-chance points and four fast-break points.

The Hurricane shot 50-percent from the field, including 40-percent from three-point range and hit 8-of-9 free throw attempts, while the Bearcats shot 45-percent from the field, 31-percent from behind the arc and 9-of-12 free throw attempts.

There were five lead changes and three tied scores in the first 5:45 off the clock in the third period as Cincinnati had a 42-41 lead at the 4:15 mark.  Tulsa then went on an 11-0 run to take a 10-point lead with 1:44 left in the quarter and TU had a 54-47 advantage to begin the fourth frame.

The Golden Hurricane climbed ahead with a 7-0 run to start the final quarter and claimed a game-high 18-point advantage twice, including a 67-49 lead with 6:32 on the clock and 69-51 at the 4:45 mark, before capturing the 13-point victory.

Cincinnati was led by Ana Owens with 19 points, Jasmine Whitfield with 18 points and Alyesha Lovett with 11 points.  Lovett had a team-high nine rebounds.

Tulsa jumped out to an early 7-3 lead, allowing the Bearcats just one field goal in the first 5:55 off the clock.  UC hit just 1-of-10 from the field in the early going, but finished 4-of-15 from the field for 26-percent in the first frame, while the Golden Hurricane shot 35-percent.  Clark had 10 points in the first 10 minutes.

Jasmine Whitfield hit three treys to start the second frame and tied the score at 18-all with 7:13 on the clock.  The score was tied again at 24-24 at the 3:58 mark, but Tulsa took a 32-29 lead into the break.

After shooting just 26-percent from the field in the first quarter, the Bearcats hit 75-percent of their attempts in the second frame, including 66-percent from three-point range and outscored Tulsa, 20-16, in those 10 minutes.  TU shot 37-percent from the field, including 33-percent from behind the arc in the first half.
