Tulsa Men Golfers Finish in 16th Place at Desert Shootout

The Tulsa men's golf team finished in 16th place at the Desert Shootout Saturday afternoon. The Hurricane carded a final round four-under par 284 for a 54-hole score of two-over par 866 at the par-72 Palm Valley Golf Club.
 
Three Tulsa players carded under-par scores in final round action as the Hurricane had its best round of the two-day tournament with its four-under par score. Tulsa freshman Jack Knoesel placed 18th overall with a six-under par 210 after turning in a four-under par 68 on Saturday. Junior Matthew Marquez had a one-under par 71 today for a total score of 216 for a 53rd place performance.
 
Sophomore Francisco Yanez also had a one-under par 71 to finish the event in 62nd place with a two-over par 218 score. True freshman Preston Crawford finished with a three-round total of 224 for 94th place, while red-shirt freshman Sam Humphreys scored a 107th place finish with a score of 229.
 
Iowa State claimed the team title with a 41-under par score of 823, while Joo-Young Lee of NIU and Antoine Rozner of UMKC shared the individual lead with scores of 14-under par 202.
 
Tulsa will be in action next at the Little Rock First Tee Classic, March 28-29, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
