Tulsa Men’s Golf Team in 7th Place after One Round at The American Championships

The Tulsa men's golf team is in seventh place in the nine-team field following opening round action Sunday at the American Athletic Conference Championships. The Golden Hurricane carded a score of 300 at the par-72 Quarry Course at Black Diamond Ranch.
Freshman Jack Knoesel and junior Matthew Marquez opened with rounds of two-over par 74 and are tied for 20th place. Freshman Marc Kepka is one stroke behind with a first round score of 75. Sophomore Francisco Yanez is in 33rd place after a round of 77 and red-shirt freshman Sam Humphreys is in 40th place with an opening round 79.
Defending champion South Florida leads the field with a three-under par score of 285, two strokes ahead of second-place East Carolina. ECU's Wesley Conover and Temple's Brandon Matthews share the individual lead with scores of three-under par 69.
