SAN DIEGO, Calif.  – The Tulsa men's golf team makes a quick turnaround and returns to competition Monday and Tuesday at the Vuori Invitational, hosted by the University of San Diego at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club.

The Golden Hurricane enters its second tournament of the 2026-27 season just three days after completing its first collegiate competition in 10 years at the CSU Ram Masters Invitational.

The 54-hole event will feature 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday.

Tulsa made a strong return to collegiate competition at the CSU Ram Masters Invitational, tying for sixth place in the 16-team field with a 54-hole score of 861 (+21). The Golden Hurricane improved in each round with scores of 290, 288 and 283, climbing three spots on the final day after entering the round in ninth place. Tulsa played its final 24 holes at three-under par to close out its first tournament in 10 years.

Matthew Wilson highlighted the weekend with an impressive runner-up finish in his Tulsa debut. The junior entered the final round tied for ninth before firing a four-under-par 66, moving seven spots up the leaderboard to finish second with a 54-hole total of 206 (-4). Wilson carded rounds of 69, 71 and 66 and finished just four strokes behind individual medalist Nils Svanberg of San Francisco. His final-round 66 matched the second-lowest round of the day.

Wilson's performance continued a strong stretch of golf for the Nanaimo, British Columbia, native. Prior to arriving at Tulsa, Wilson earned first-team All-Big Sky Conference honors at Weber State and won the 2026 British Columbia Amateur Championship. He also qualified for the U.S. Amateur this summer before making his Golden Hurricane debut.
