The Tulsa women's basketball team dropped a 66-43 decision to North Texas on Saturday afternoon at The Super Pit in Denton, Texas.  TU fell to 3-5 on the season, while UNT moved to 6-1 overall.

"They made us shoot 25-perent for the game," Head Coach Matilda Mossman said.  "I don't know if I've ever been a part of team that shot so poorly in the first quarter with 33-percent and it just got worse each quarter.  It's disappointing and frustrating.  We had a good shoot around today and made shots then, but not tonight."

Tulsa's first three made baskets were three-pointers, which was one more than in their last contest against Oral Roberts, but they didn't make a three-pointer past that point.

"The three's we hit early were because the shot clock was expiring," Mossman added.  "We hit the first three shots and got nine points, and then couldn't hit much of anything.  We've got to get our kids back into a rhythm."

For the second-straight game TU was without a scorer in double figures, but Alexis Gaulden led the Golden Hurricane with nine points.  Tatyana Perez added eight points (all of which were in the first half), Kendrian Elliott had six, and Jasmine Butler, Tyjae' Scales and Crystal Polk all scored five.  Krystan Vornes came in off the bench and had a team-leading eight rebounds in 15 minutes of play.

North Texas had a 42-35 lead in rebounds, a 10-4 advantage in assists, a 4-1 lead in blocks and a 5-4 edge in steals.

For the game, Tulsa shot just 25-percent from the field, 37-percent from three-point range and 69-percent from the free throw line.  From the field, TU shot 33-percent in the first quarter, 30-percent in the second, 28-percent in the third and just 9-percent in the fourth.   The Mean Green shot 40-percent from the field, 30-percent from behind the arc and 62-percent from the charity stripe.

Tulsa trailed North Texas, 15-12, after the first 10 minutes, and went into the locker room down 31-22 at halftime.  Perez had eight points in the first 20 minutes, while Gaulden added six.

The Golden Hurricane allowed just one basket by the Mean Green in the first 6:11 off the clock in the third quarter to pull within six, 34-28, but two made free throws and a basket by Trena Mims, and a three-pointer by Terriell Bradley and UNT took a 41-28 lead at the 2:53 mark.  North Texas closed out the frame with a 44-32 advantage.

UNT outscored TU, 22-11, in the final quarter for the 23-point win.

North Texas was led by Terriell Bradley who had a career-high 23 points, while Trena Mims added 15 points and Lauren Holmes had 11.

Tulsa will return to action on Tuesday, December 5 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.  Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
