TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Track and Field team saw their second national champion in program history be crowned as senior and nine-time all-American Marc Scott used a late push in the 10,000-meters at the outdoor championships to take first place with a run of 29:01.54. Scott became Tulsa's first national champion since Chris O'Hare took first in the mile run at the indoor championships back in 2012.
Fellow senior and distance runner Luke Traynor finished eighth in the event to earn his fourth all-America honor as he finished inside the top-15 for the second consecutive year in the event.
At the outdoor conference meet, Tulsa led after the first day as Henry Pearce finished first in the 10,000-meters while Adam Roderique placed second to put the Hurricane in an early lead before finishing fifth overall as a team. Scott and Traynor both had individual titles at the conference meet, taking first in the 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter respectively.
In the indoor season, Scott finished as the runner-up at the national meet in the 5,000-meter run and third in the 3,000-meters after being named the Most Outstanding Performer at The American Indoor Championships in which he won two events. Benjamin Preisner took the 5,000-meter crown while Bailey Stewart finished third in the 400-meter dash as the Hurricane finished third as a team.
Sabrina Monsees and Adrena Mazzei picked up a top-five finish for the women in the 800-meter run and mile run, respectively, in the conference meet to go along with Stacie Taylor's fifth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run.
