After being down 4-1, the Tulsa men's soccer team battled back, but time ran out before TU could get the equalizer, falling 4-3 to UCF on Saturday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  The Golden Hurricane fell to 3-7-1 on the season and 0-3 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Knights moved to 8-2-1 overall and 2-1 in the league.

"I was proud of the guys for not giving in when it went 4-1, and for just working and staying with it," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said.  "I think that is a good sign for the guys.  We had some guys that came in and did a good job off the bench, which gave us some energy and positively impacted the game.  We just couldn't get that fourth goal."

Yoni Sorokin gave UCF an early lead as he drilled in a penalty kick with just 3:46 ticked off the clock, but 85-seconds later Yoeri Sijbers evened the score as he punched in a shot from five yards out off a corner kick taken by Miguel Velasquez.

Cal Jennings put the Knights up once again in the 29th minute and UCF took the 2-1 lead into the break.

Jennings would add a score in the 53rd minute and then Hattabiou Barry tallied the fourth goal for the Knights to give them a 4-1 lead.

Chase Bromstedt got one back for Tulsa as he drilled in a free kick taken from 19 yards out on the left side at the 73:57 mark.  Bromstedt scored once again in the 77th minute as Alex Harris crossed the ball into the box, Velasquez flicked it to Bromstedt who finished it from five yards out.

Velasquez had a team-best four shots, while Bromstedt added three attempts and Hunter Hasler tallied two shots.  Bryson Reed logged all 90 minutes between the posts and picked up five saves.

UCF had a 21-13 lead in shots, including a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal, but it was TU that had a 7-2 lead in corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Tuesday, October 9 against Missouri State.  Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
