Tulsa signed four players for the 2019 men's soccer signing class, including Mason Bratton, Jonathan Cervantes, Nolan Cosgrove and Felipe Flores, as announced today by head coach Tom McIntosh.
"We are excited about getting these guys signed early," McIntosh said. "We've added three creative attacking players and a good goalkeeper. We like the attacking ability of all three – Mason, Jonathan and Felipe. Felipe is very good on the dribble and can create chances for himself or others; Jonathan is an attacking midfielder with good vision, he can score goals and he is very good on set pieces; and Mason has great speed and is good on the dribble. Nolan is also one of the top goalkeepers in this area of the country. We think he'll add to a very strong group of goalkeepers already on the roster."
A 5-10 forward from Stillwater, Okla., Bratton plays club soccer for West Side Alliance '00 Boys White. His club team has been ranked as high as No. 7 in the nation, captured two Oklahoma State Cup Championships, advanced to the USYSA Regional semifinals, won the NPL Red River Championship and earned a fourth-place finish at the 2018 NPL National Championship. Bratton is also a three-year letterwinner at Stillwater High School, where he has helped his team post 42 wins in three years, and advance to the Oklahoma Class 6A State Championship as a sophomore, and to the quarterfinals as a freshman and junior. Bratton has tallied 33 goals and 13 assists for 79 points, while earning all-conference and all-district honors the last two seasons.
Cervantes, a 5-11 attacking midfielder from Houston, Texas, plays club soccer for the Texans Soccer Club Houston. He served as the U18/19 captain, while scoring a team-high 14 goals during the 2017-18 USSDA season, and led his team to a 2016-17 USSDA National Championship. Cervantes was also a four-year letterwinner in football and earned one letter in soccer at Jersey Valley High School.
A 6-2 goalkeeper from Chesterfield, Mo., Cosgrove plays club soccer for St. Louis Scott Gallagher and is participating in the US Youth Soccer National League. Prior to the 2018 season, he competed with the Lou Fusz Stull 2000 and won the 2018 Midwest Regional League Championship, and was a 2018 Missouri Olympic Development Program goalkeeper and ODP Region 2 goalkeeper. Cosgrove was also a three-year letterwinner at Parkway West High School, helping his team to 35 wins and a district championship as a sophomore. He logged 1,788 minutes in goal, had 118 saves, 10 shutouts and a 0.76 goals-against average as a senior. Cosgrove also picked up all-conference honors as a junior and senior.
Flores, a 5-7 left wing/left back from Heredia, Costa Rica, plays club soccer for Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, and has helped his club team finish as the U15, U17 and U20 Champions. He was also a member of the U15, U17 and U20 Costa Rican National Teams, participating in the 2017 U17 World Cup in India, the U17 World Cup Qualifiers in Panama and finished as U17 UNCAF Champions.
