The Tulsa men's soccer team earned a 2-1 comeback victory over #19 UConn on Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  The Golden Hurricane concluded the season with a 6-9-2 overall record, including a 2-5 mark in American Athletic Conference play, while the Huskies fell to 10-4-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the league.

"I thought it was a really good performance from the guys," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said.  "UConn had two or three really good chances in the first 10 minutes of the game, but then it started opening up.  We were good connecting through midfield, but we just weren't good enough in the final third in the first half.  We felt like we'd get our chances in the second half.  We moved the ball quite well and created some really good chances.  I was proud of the guys for their effort.  It isn't easy to have the season we've had, but I think we proved ourselves tonight.  The guys showed what they are capable of and what they are made of, and I am super proud of them."

Abdou Mbacke Thiam put UConn on the board at 25:14 mark as he punched in a forward pass from Dayonn Harris from two yards out.

The Huskies maintained that 1-0 lead through the 64th minute, but senior Munashe Raranje evened the score as he drilled in a penalty kick at the 64:37 mark.  Chase Bromstedt netted the game winner from eight yards out in the 68th minute off a header from Juan Sanchez.

Ryan Alpers had a team-best four shots, while Raranje added two attempts, and five others had one shot.  Cooper Clark logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up four saves.

The Huskies outshot the Golden Hurricane, 13-6, in the first half, but TU held UConn to just two shots in the second frame, while attempting five.  The Huskies finished the game with a 15-11 lead in shots, but both teams had five shots on goal.  UConn also had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
