LAS VEGAS — Southern Illinois shot 65.2-percent in the second half and went on a 15-0 run on its way to a 79-69 win on Friday night in the consolation game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Holiday Invitational at Orleans Arena.

Martins Igbanu led the way for the Golden Hurricane (4-2) with 15 points and he was joined in double-figures by Curran Scott (11 points) and Elijah Joiner (10 points). Tulsa was limited to 39.3-percent shooting over the final 20 minutes and 43.1-percent for the game.

Meanwhile, Eric McGill's 14 points paced the Salukis (3-3), who went 11-of-18 from behind the arc for the contest.

Southern Illinois got off to a hot start and hit its first three attempts of the night on its way to an early 13-5 advantage. However, the Hurricane rattled off a 10-0 run to grab the upper-hand.

Lawson Korita got the run going with a 3-pointer before an old-fashioned three-point play by Igbanu. Elijah Joiner drove inside for a layup and Igbanu closed the run with another bucket down low as the Hurricane finished the opening half with 14 points in the paint.

But the Salukis hung around thanks to the long-ball and regained a 27-25 edge on Eric McGill's triple with 5:15 left in the half. Tulsa would outscore Southern Illinois 10-4 the rest of the half to take a 35-32 lead to intermission.

Chris Barnes opened the second half with a jumper and added a layup to give TU a 40-36 lead. Midway through the half, Jeriah Horne had a five-point stretch with an offensive rebound and putback before he hit a 3-pointer that had the TU lead at 51-46.

However, the Hurricane went scoreless for the next five minutes and the Salukis went on a 15-0 run to lead 61-51 with 6:32 to play.

Tulsa cut the deficit to five points twice in the final 5:10, but could not get any closer as the Salukis took the 79-69 final.

Tulsa will return to the friendly confines of the Donald W. Reynolds Center for a 7 p.m. contest against UT Arlington (3-3) on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
