Tulsa’s Thomas Bennett, Tyler Bowling and Cooper Edmiston Earn All-Conference Honors

TULSA, Okla. –– A trio of Tulsa Golden Hurricane players were recognized by the American Athletic Conference as all-conference performers as selected by the league's coaches, it was announced today.
 
Senior offensive lineman Tyler Bowling, from Yukon, Oklahoma, and junior punter Thomas Bennett, from Carlsbad, Calif, earned second-team all-AAC honors, while linebacker Cooper Edmiston was an honorable mention selection.
 
Bowling was a force for the Hurricane on the offensive front when healthy. The 6'6", 327-pound guard played in Tulsa's first six games before suffering a season-ending injury thus missing the final six contests. This is the third straight season that Bowling has earned second-team accolades. He started 31 consecutive games before missing the six games this year.

Bennett ranked second in the American Athletic Conference and fifth in the country for punting with an average of 46.6 yards per punt. He had 15 of his 53 punts travel more than 50 yards and 12 landed inside the 20-yard line.

Edmiston, a 6'3" MIKE linebacker from Gatesville, Texas, led Tulsa in tackles with 113, interceptions with four and fumble recoveries with three. He ranked among the American Athletic Conference leaders for interceptions (2nd), fumble recoveries (2nd) tackles (3rd), forced fumbles (6th) and is also ranked among the nation's top-40 in those categories. Edmiston had seven of Tulsa's 20 takeaways on the year.

Edmiston ended the season with seven double-figure tackle games and has 13 for his career, including a season-high of 12 twice. He will enter his senior season in 2019 with 237 tackles, five fumble recoveries and five interceptions in his career.
