
Birmingham Leads Tulsa at Iowa State Classic

AMES, Iowa – Aaliyah Birmingham paced Tulsa with a first-place finish in the 60-meters and a third-place finish in the 200-meters. The Golden Hurricane competed at the Iowa State Classic over the weekend.
Birmingham finished second in her preliminary heat of the 60-meters with a time of 7.55. In the 60-meter finals, Birmingham posted a time of 7.48 and claimed first place.
In the 200-meters, Birmingham recorded a time of 24.33, good for third place. Candalyn Lyons posted a mark of 25.06 and finished in seventh.
Caitlin Klopfer ran the 5,000-meters in a time of 16:52.78, giving her an eighth-place finish out of 27 runners.
Bailey Stewart finished second in his heat of the 200-meters with a time of 22.04 and finished ninth overall. Stewart came in ninth out of 27 in the 400-meters with a time of 48.38.
Ben Preisner placed sixth out of 66 runners in the 5,000-meters with a time of 13.57.97.
The Hurricane returns to action on Friday, Feb. 16, as it travels to South Bend, Ind. Tulsa will compete at the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by Notre Dame.
