In the fifth, Stafford double-home Estocado before scoring on a wild pitch. The Hurricane started the sixth inning with five straight hits, including a triple by Estocado and a two-run homer from Stafford, that pushed across its final five runs of the contest.
Pochop retired the side in order in the bottom of the panel to improve to 5-3 on the season. The freshman allowed just two runs on two hits with nine strikeouts in the winning effort.
In the second game of the day, Tulsa made quick work of the Kangaroos (4-13) and jumped ahead with an eight-run bottom of the second. The inning featured RBI hits from Sarah Briers, Whitten, Neal and Haley Meinen, while the squad also benefitted from two UMKC errors.
The Roos got one run back in the top of the third, but TU pushed the advantage to 12-1 with a four-spot in the bottom of the frame.
Neal and Estocado each drove in runs with singles and TU picked up a pair of runs on two wild pitches during the inning.
