DENTON, Texas – The University of Tulsa softball team completed a perfect 5-0 weekend at the North Texas Invitational with a 7-3 win over UT Arlington on Sunday morning at Lovelance Stadium.

The Golden Hurricane (12-7) have now won seven straight and nine of its last 10 games. Julia Hollingsworth, Morgan Neal and Haley Meinen each finished with two hits, while Meinen also drove in two runs to back a strong outing in the circle from freshman Samantha Pochop. Pochop went the distance and allowed two earned runs to go along with six strikeouts to improve to 4-3 on the season.

Tulsa never trailed in the contest and it quickly took a 4-0 lead with a run in the first and three in the third.

Hollingsworth opened the top of the first with a home run, her first of the season to give TU an early 1-0 lead on the Mavs (9-8). Two innings later, Shelby Estocado doubled home a run before Tori Stafford made it 3-0 with a sacrifice fly. Meinen then capped the frame with an RBI-single up the midde.

However, UT Arlington cut into the Hurricane lead with two runs in the bottom of the third and another run in the fifth to pull within 4-3.

But Pochop held the Mavs to just one hit over the final two innings and Tulsa put the game away with three runs in the top of the seventh.

Hollingsworth started the rally with a single and she would touch home on Neal's double to left. Sarah Kosmata brought home another with a sacrifice fly and Meinen ripped a double to plate Estocado for the 7-3 advantage.

Pochop worked around a leadoff single in the seventh to close out the 7-3 win.

Tulsa will host Drake at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, at the Collins Family Softball Complex in its home opener.
