
Tulsa's Adam Roderique named the American Athletic Conference's Male Scholar Athlete Award Winner for Cross-Country

TULSA, Okla. – The American Athletic Conference announced today that The University of Tulsa's Adam Roderique was named the league's Male Scholar Athlete of the Year award-winner for the sport of cross-country.
Roderique has maintained a 3.906 grade point average as a double major in mechanical engineering and finance at Tulsa. He earned American Athletic Conference all-academic honors in each of his first three seasons and has received Dean's List mention for nine semesters.
Each sport winner for the Scholar Athlete of the Year award receives a $2,000 scholarship which may be applied to graduate or professional studies.
A senior from Chesterfield, Mo., Roderique was named to the USTFCCCA all-academic team the last two seasons and was The American's Institutional Male Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2016-17.
Roderique has been a member of four cross-country conference championships teams with the Golden Hurricane. At this year's indoor track meet, Roderique finished second behind teammate Ben Preisner in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:15.64. He also clocked a time of 14:25.20 for fourth place in the 5,000m also at this year's American indoor meet.
In the fall country-country season, Roderique placed 12th at the American Athletic Conference Championship as the Hurricane captured its eighth consecutive conference title. Roderique earned his second all-region honor when he placed 17th overall at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship.
