Tulsa Contingent at American Athletic Conference Football Media Kickoff

NEWPORT, R.I. – The University of Tulsa head coach Philip Montgomery and student-athletes – seniors Justin Hobbs, McKinley Whitfield, Willie Wright and junior Trevis Gipson – will meet the media on Tuesday at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Football Media Kickoff at Gurney's Newport Resort and Spa.

The Tulsa contingent opened the Football Kickoff on Monday with a variety of video interviews and photos.
 
Here is a look at the Tulsa football student-athletes participating at the American Athletic Conference Football Media Kickoff:


Trevis Gipson • DE …  two-year letterwinner …  has played in all 25 career games and has 19 tackles … played in all 12 games in 2017 … received his first career start vs. New Mexico … had 11 stops, one PBU and one forced fumble in 2017.

Justin Hobbs • WR…  three-year letterwinner and two-year starter … has been named to the Biletnikof Watch List this year … has played in 38 career games and has 27 starts … has 137 receptions for 2,066 yards and nine touchdowns in his career … led Tulsa in receiving with 55 receptions for 830 yards and three TDs in 2017… was a second-team American Athletic Conference selection as voted on by the league's coaches.

McKinley Whitfield • SAF …  three-year letterwinner and returning starter … has played in all 38 career games and has 14 starts … has 193 career tackles, 8.5 stops for -26 yards, 12 pass break-ups and two interceptions … had a team-leading 113 stops, including 67 solos and six stops for -18 yards, eight pass break-ups and one interception in 2017.

Willie Wright • OT … three-year starter … has played in 36 career games and has 35 starts … was named to the watch list for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team this year … helped lead an offense that ranked 14th nationally in rushing with 247.2 yards on the ground … graded 84-percent or better in all 12 games, including over 90-percent in three contests.

 
The American Digital Network will be live Tuesday, July 24, beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET with the announcement of The American football preseason poll. ESPN anchor Kevin Negandhi will serve as the host of Tuesday's podium sessions, featuring opening remarks by commissioner Mike Aresco and three roundtable sessions featuring The American's head coaches.
