8/30/2018 9:16:00 AM | Men's Soccer
The Tulsa men's soccer team will host UNLV and North Florida on Friday, August 31 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, September 2 at 7:00 pm, respectively, at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
Tickets are $5 general admission and can be purchased at the north ticket gate, online at TulsaHurricane.com or by calling the TU Athletic Ticket Office at 918.631.4688. The Friday match is a double-header with the women's team as they host Arkansas State at 5:30 pm so one $5 ticket is good for both contests.
Fans unable to attend the match in person can watch it live on TulsaHurricane.com/watch. There is a 24HR Pass, a Monthly Pass and Yearly Pass that allow you to watch all TU home men's and women's soccer, volleyball and softball games depending on the package purchased.
The Golden Hurricane is undefeated in the early season with a 1-0-1 mark, including a 2-1 win over #15 Michigan and a 0-0 tie against #4 Michigan State. For their performance last week, TU moved into the top-25 in three polls - #15 Top Drawer Soccer, #19 College Soccer News and #23 United Soccer Coaches.
Joe Ruiz and Juan Sanchez each have a goal for TU, while Cooper Clark has played all 200 minutes in goal for a 0.45 GAA, a 0.917 saves percentage, 11 saves and one shutout.
UNLV has a perfect 2-0 mark on the season, topping Florida Atlantic (3-0) and Evansville (4-1) to begin the season. Marco Gonzalez has a team-best three goals, while Timo Mehlich has two scores. Enrique Adame has played the majority of minutes in goal for a 0.53 GAA, a 0.667 saves percentage, two saves and one clean sheet.
The TU-UNLV series is tied, 3-3, but it was the Rebels that earned a 2-1 win in Tulsa in the last meeting in 2001.
North Florida has a 0-2 mark on the year, but will take on Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga., before making the trip to Tulsa. Mikey Connell has the only goal for the Ospreys, and Padraic Gilley has logged every minute in goal for a 2.0 GAA, a 0.556 saves percentage and five saves.
This will be the first meeting between Tulsa and North Florida
