Tulsa Women’s Soccer Team Hosts Two Games this Weekend

The Tulsa women's soccer team will take on Arkansas State on Friday, Aug. 31 at 5:30 pm and Sam Houston State on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 2:00 pm.  Both games will be played at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium on the TU campus.
 
Tickets are $5 general admission and can be purchased at the north ticket gate, online at TulsaHurricane.com or by calling the TU Athletic Ticket Office at 918.631.4688.  The Friday match is a double-header with the men's team as they host UNLV at 8:00 pm so one $5 ticket is good for both contests.
 
Fans unable to attend the match in person can watch it live on TulsaHurricane.com/watch.  There is a 24HR Pass, a Monthly Pass and Yearly Pass that allow you to watch all TU home men's and women's soccer, volleyball and softball games depending on the package purchased.
 
Tulsa is off to a 1-1-1 start this season, including a 2-0 win over Oklahoma Baptist and a 1-1 tie with Illinois State last week.  Five different players have scored a goal for the Golden Hurricane, including Gabriella Borboa, Emily Brandenburg, Alzbeta Chlumova, Alijah Oliver and Anna WilliamsMica MacKay has logged every minute in goal for a 1.21 GAA, a 0.78 saves percentage, 14 saves and one clean sheet.
 
Arkansas State has a 1-0-2 overall record, with their only win coming against UT Martin.  Maggie Ertl has a team-best two goals, while Hailey Furio and Riley Ebenroth each have one score.  Kelsey Ponder and Megan McClure have combined for 18 saves and one clean sheet on the season.
 
Tulsa owns a 4-2 lead in the series over the Red Wolves, including a 1-0 win at ASU in the last meeting in 2014. 
 
Sam Houston State has a 1-1-1 overall record, but will take on Oral Roberts on the Friday before the TU contest.  Sammi Mayock, Katy Johnson and Lindsey Bienski each have one score for the Bearkats, while Christina Hendershot has logged every minute in goal for a 0.93 GAA, a 0.842 saves percentage and one shutout.
 
Tulsa earned a 6-0 win over Sam Houston State in the only previous meeting in 2011.
 
Under the direction of 11th-year Head Coach Kyle Cussen, TU has tallied a 40-10-5 home mark in non-conference games. TU is 1-1-1 in home non-conference games this season.
