Overall Results

PITTSBURG,
Kan. — The University of Tulsa track and field squad notched another strong performance in the indoor season on Saturday, picking up six event wins at the Pittsburg State Invitational.

Tulsa would make its biggest splash in the 3,000 meters, as Scott Beattie managed a 8:13.17 to set the meet record, along with picking up first-place overall for TU. On the women's side, Caitlin Klopfer would set a personal-best time of 9:39.53 for third overall.

Klopfer was one of four athletes to break the meet record in the women's race, along with setting the sixth-fastest time in school history in the event.

Jenny O'Bryan got the Golden Hurricane off to a fast start in the meet, recording a 17:26.80 in the first event of the day, the 5,000 meters. Her time earned her a first-place finish in the race, to go along with a personal-best mark by nearly four full seconds.

In similar fashion, Ben Preisner took gold in the men's 5,000 meters, running 14:26.81, which would slot him as an NCAA top-25 time in the event. Peter Lynch took third in a personal-best time of 14:38.38, while Austin Del Rosso ran 14:45.09 for fifth overall.

Redshirt-sophomore Allison Bailey picked up another gold for the aptly-named Golden Hurricane in the women's 600 meters, cruising to a 1:33.86 victory and a career-best in the event.

Similarly in the middle distance events, Tulsa picked up two more event wins in the form of the men's and women's 800 meters. Robert Tully did the damage for TU on the men's side, going 1:51.27 to take first. For the women, middle-distance specialist Sabrina Monsees picked up a gold in 2:11.04.

Despite not winning the men's 60-meter hurdles, sophomore Henry Visser continued his ascent into the record books. After running an 8.31 PR in the qualifying section, Visser again topped his career best in the finals, going 8.28 for seventh overall and No. 3 in the TU record books.
