The Tulsa men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Cincinnati on Saturday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. The Golden Hurricane fell to 4-7 on the season and 0-3 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Bearcats moved to 5-7-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the league.
"I thought we got the ball into some good areas, especially in the first 20 minutes," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We got in behind their midfield and ran at their back line, but the final ball, final pass and final decision just wasn't good enough tonight. We created good moments, but we didn't get that final touch and we didn't take our chances like we should have. One kicked ball by their goalkeeper shouldn't beat a whole team, but we made a mistake and got punished for it."
Rex Epps scored the lone goal of the contest as he picked up a long ball from goalkeeper Noah Lawrence and shot from 25 yards out up the middle and into an open net at the 67:08 mark.
Tulsa had a 19-9 lead in shots, including a 7-5 edge in shots on goal, and a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Harris Partain took a team-best six shots, three of which were on goal, while Adam Habib had four attempts and Chase Bromstedt added three shots. Bryson Reed logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up four saves.
Tulsa will return to action on Tuesday, October 22 against Denver. Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
