It's my senior season …
I just have to give it all that I have this year. I don't know what the future holds for me, so this could be my last time playing football ever. So, I want to give it my all, and have no regrets. I've been playing since 3rd grade. It's been a long time. I'm just letting it sink in.
My focus …
As a team, to get wins. Individually, it's to play the best that I can –– get interceptions, get PBs (pass breakups), get tackles and to be the best player that I can possibly be when I'm on the field.
Knack for blocking kicks …
Coach Fletcher emphasizes special teams and blocking kicks during practice. At the beginning of practice we work on PATs and he emphasizes to go block it every time we work against it. I just try to focus, watch the ball, sprint out and stay as tight to the offensive lineman that I can and then lay out when I feel I'm close enough to reach the ball. You really have to be loaded like a spring. When the ball moves, you've got to move. There's no time to waste when it's a field goal or PAT. It's going right from the snapper and then the kick.
After a kick block …
After my hands stop hurting, I'm really trying to locate the ball. When I block it, I'm kind of shocked in a way, and I'm looking where'd the ball end up going, or see that someone has it. Once I get up and realize I blocked it, it's the best feeling in the world. Knowing that I got to stop them from scoring one point or three points and that could help us win the game is a great feeling.
In high school …
I played football, basketball and track. I stopped basketball after my freshman year. Basketball was not something that I enjoyed. I really enjoyed football and track, so those were the two sports I pursued in high school.
When I knew I could pursue football after high school …
Up until my sophomore year I was just playing football. After my junior season, I started getting some recognition. Before that I was just out there playing and enjoying it. I didn't know until then that I could play at the next level.
My role model …
My dad. He's probably the most hard-working person that I know. He's my number one fan. He's always been there for me outside of football, and always in my corner when it comes to football.
My favorite NFL team …
The New Orleans Saints is my favorite NFL team. I'm originally from Louisiana. My dad kind of instilled in me his 'Steeler Nation' mentality. He liked the Steelers, I think, because of the 'Steel Curtain'. It wasn't until I got a little older that I saw other NFL teams, and really, I liked the Saints. They had Reggie Bush at the time. Drew Brees was always my favorite. I'm a Saints fan, but I'm really a Drew Brees fan.
Why Drew Brees …
He's such a great leader. He's not the prototype quarterback. He's shown that you don't have to be big to be one of the best players. He's had to overcome obstacles like his height. He's one of the best players at his position. His stats are amazing. I just like a lot of things about Drew Brees.
Something most people don't know about me …
I'm deaf in my left ear. I usually turn my head to the right to hear people. I can hear that you're talking, but the treble of your voice won't come out clear. I will know that you're saying something, but I can't hear the words. During games, our safeties will give me hand signals to help me overcome the hearing loss.
My hobbies …
I play video games and I like cars, and learning about cars. My dad really got me into cars. I've always had a strong interest in them. My car now is a 2011 Dodge Challenger. My first car was a 2004 Trailblazer. I play all kinds of video games – Madden 2K, Need for Speed – and a bunch of other ones.
