My favorite part of football ...
I like being able to be physical against another human being and having your will tested. I also enjoy working as a unit, knowing if one person messes up the whole unit could look bad. Just knowing that you have 11 guys out there that have to play together to be successful.
College career has flown by …
It has flown by. It feels like it was just a couple days ago that we were talking about going into this season and were only guaranteed 12 games. It's hard to believe, honestly that I've been here for this long. It's been a wonderful time here. I'm just so appreciative for all the relationships I've come across, all the people I've met and all the experiences that have come with it. So many people and experiences have helped me become who I am today.
Born in Germany …
Both my parents were in the Army. I was born in Amberg, Germany. I was only there for about 3 months. We went to Jamaica for about a half of year and then to Georgia, then to Kansas, then to Texas when I was about 5 years ago. I went to North Carolina because both my parents were deployed. Then my mom came back, we went to Texas, then I went to Korea with my mom. I then came back to Texas after a few months in Korea and I lived with my grandma.
By the age of 6 …
I lived in Germany, Jamaica, Korea, Atlanta, Kansas, Texas.
Back to Jamaica …
I went back to Jamaica in 2008 for a wedding, but haven't been back to Germany.
In high school …
I played basketball, baseball, football and ran track. I played baseball my last year just to stay busy. I ran track from my sophomore year to my senior year, and for basketball I played just my sophomore and junior years. I played football from sophomore through senior year.
Continue football…
I was introduced to football a little late. But after my junior year when I had coaches telling me that I was doing good and when I received my first scholarship offer, I thought that football was the platform I can use to get a college education. I knew this was the road I needed to take.
My role model…
My role model is definitely my mom. She came from extremely humble beginnings, same as with my father.
Favorite NFL team …
The Indianapolis Colts is my favorite NFL team. I was in the 5th grade watching Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne and all those guys tear it up. They were the hot team to watch, so I just fell into that. I liked watching them.
Favorite class …
I really enjoyed my International Sports Revenue class with Professor Bouchet. It opened up my eyes about the money operation behind sports. You would think that a lot of it is for the love and passion of the game, but a lot of it is just money driven. It was interesting to know and learn about that.
My shoe collection …
I probably have about 115 pair of sports shoes. The first pair that I really took care of was in the 5th grade when I got a pair of Jordan Jumpman Pro Basketball shoes. That's what started it. I really just started watching shoe videos, especially when I was in Korea because I had nothing to do. It was high fashion over there too. I haven't stepped into the dress shoes arena yet. I have the shoes split up between my dad in Alabama and my mom in Florida.
What drives me …
Just knowing that I can is what drives me. Being able to seize the opportunity is big for me.
Graduating …
I'll walk in May 2020 with a degree in business management
What I like about TU …
I like that you're kind of forced to know everybody here. If you don't, it could be kind of hard to get things done. For the most part, the professors care about you learning the material and your overall well-being –– as far as what's going on at home and how football is going. The coaches are caring too. It's a family atmosphere.
