Zach Smith Named to Player of the Week Honorable Mention List for Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award

TYLER, Texas –– Tulsa junior quarterback Zach Smith was named to the honorable mention list for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week for his performance last Saturday in a 49-24 win over ECU.

The 6'3" Smith threw for a career-high 5 touchdowns and completed 70-percent of his passes (21-of-31) for 331 yards against the Pirates.

Smith's 5 TD passes totaled 140 yards, covering 66, 29, 4, 2 and 39 yards. Smith completed 17-of-23 passes for 275 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first half to give Tulsa a 21-3 halftime lead.

The weekly honor recognizes the top offensive efforts of the past weekend's games for a student-athlete with ties to the state of Texas. The nominee for must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and /or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college of four-year Division I Texas college.

Smith is from Grandview, Texas, and played his prep football at Grandview High School.
