TU Closes Out Perfect Weekend with 13-4 Win Over North Dakota

MOBILE, Ala. — Chenise Delce and Alexis Perry each homered as Tulsa recorded a season-high 13 runs and completed a perfect 5-0 weekend at the Jaguar Challenge with a 13-4 win over North Dakota on Sunday morning.
Perry and Josie Muffley drove in three runs apiece for the Golden Hurricane (7-3), who claimed its seventh straight win. Julia Hollingsworth had three hits to lead six players with multi-hit outings.
In the circle, Madison Higley picked up the win with just one earned run allowed over four innings, while Kassidy Scott tossed three innings in relief for her second save of the campaign.
Following the contest, Hollingsworth, Muffley, Delce and Samantha Pochop were selected to the Jaguar Challenge All-Tournament Team.
Marina Marzolino went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Fighting Hawks (2-8).
North Dakota led 2-1 after three innings before the Hurricane took control with 12 runs in the final four frames, highlighted by a five-run fourth inning.
Delce's two-run homer to left-center in the fourth gave TU the lead for good and the Hurricane loaded the bases and brought home two runs off hit batters and another on a walk. Hollingsworth plated a run in the fifth before Perry's two-run round-tripper an inning later.
In the seventh, Hollingsworth, Muffley and Jesse Smith all had run-scoring hits to add to the cushion.
The Fighting Hawks got two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Scott closed out the contest with a groundout for the 13-4 final score.
Tulsa will be back in action next weekend, Feb. 22-24, at the Texas Invitational where it will face Ole Miss, Sam Houston State and host Texas at Red & Charline McCombs Field in Austin.
