TULSA, Okla.
– The University of Tulsa men's tennis squad (9-5) battled but fell to the No. 11 ranked Baylor Bears (10-2), 5-2, in its Saturday night showdown inside the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Despite the loss, senior and No. 84 Majed Kilani added his second ranked win of the dual season, upsetting Baylor's No. 34 Will Little in the top singles spot, 6-3, 6-7(1), 1-0 (10-7).

The No. 11-ranked Bears lived up to their laurels in doubles, as their NCAA No. 2 duo of Sven Lah and Jimmy Bendeck defeated Tulsa's Kilani and Jarod Hing, 6-1. To clinch the doubles point, Baylor also managed a 6-1 victory at the second spot to pull ahead.

Despite losing the point, Tulsa's duo of Joshua Goodger and Tom Thelwall-Jones were leading at the No. 3 position, 5-3, until the decisive point.

In solo play, Tulsa started off slow, as Baylor took four of the six first sets. Baylor extended its lead to 2-0 with a straight-set victory on the fourth spot. Shortly after, Hing fell in his match to No. 117 Lah, 6-3, 6-3, as Baylor pushed the advantage to three.

The decisive match point came at the No. 2 spot, as the Bears' Matias Soto picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win to clinch the match for No. 11 Baylor.

In the remaining singles matches, Baylor's Kyrylo Tsygura took down the Golden Hurricane's Daniel Siddall, 6-1, 7-6(5) to move the Bears ahead 5-0. Freshman Stefan Hampe improved to 7-4 on the season with a straight-set victory over Bendeck before Kilani's victory rounded out the match.
