Game One Box Score | Game Two Box Score

BATON ROUGE, La. — The University of Tulsa softball team recorded shutout wins against Iowa (3-0; 10 innings) and Bucknell (1-0) to give 14th-year head coach John Bargfeldt his 500th career victory on the final day of the Tiger Classic.

The winningest coach in TU history, Bargfeldt now has a career 500-253-1 record. He has led the Golden Hurricane (2-3) to a winning record in all 13 seasons, six regular-season conference titles, seven conference postseason crowns and 10 NCAA Regional appearances.

Tulsa picked up its first wins of the season by throwing 17 shutout innings over the two games. Freshman Chenise Delce tossed nine shutout innings on her way to her first collegiate win in the 10-inning victory against Iowa and Samantha Pochop notched eight strikeouts in her seven spotless frames.

TU will return to the diamond next weekend for five games in three days (Feb. 15-17) at the Jaguar Challenge in Mobile, Ala.

Game One
Chenise Delce and Kassidy Scott combined on a five-hit shutout and Tulsa scored three runs in the top of the 10th to outlast Iowa, 3-0, to claim its first win of the 2019 season.

Julia Hollingsworth went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and Mikayla Whitten went 1-for-3 and drove in the first run of the game. The effort was enough to give Delce her first collegiate victory in the circle after she went nine innings and struck out seven, while yielding five hits and three walks.

Kassidy Scott came on in relief and tossed a perfect bottom of the 10th inning with a pair of strikeouts to earn the save.

For the Hawkeyes (1-2), Allison Doocy took the loss after she allowed two earned runs over 9.2 innings with seven strikeouts. The junior held Tulsa without a hit until the 6th inning.

With the international tie break rule in effect, Tulsa started the top of the 10th with Haley Meinen on second base. She moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Tori Stafford and came home with the game's first run when Whitten singled down the right field line.

Three batters later, Hollingsworth singled to left-center to bring home two more runs for the 3-0 advantage.

Iowa drew a leadoff walk in the bottom half of the frame before Delce was lifted for Scott. The junior got a strikeout and a grounder before ending the game with another punchout.

Game Two
Samantha Pochop recorded Tulsa's second shutout of the day with eight strikeouts as the Hurricane defeated Bucknell, 1-0, in the team's final game of the Tiger Classic.

The sophomore scattered six hits and a walk en route to the second shutout of her career.

Julia Hollingsworth led the Hurricane offense with three hits, including the 11th triple of her career, while Alexis Perry drove in the only run of the game with a sacrifice fly.

Tulsa got on the board in the bottom of the first when Hollingsworth reached on an infield single before she stole second. She moved to third on a grounder and raced home on Perry's sacrifice fly.

Pochop made sure the one run stood up and escaped a jam in the third inning with a strikeout and a flyout. She retired the final nine batters that she faced to nail down the 1-0 victory and win No. 500 for Bargfeldt.
