Tulsa Rolls to 11-3 Run-Rule Victory Over Syracuse on Saturday

TULSA, Okla. – Josie Muffley hit two doubles in as many at-bats to drive in a pair of runs as Tulsa scored 11 runs over the final three innings of an 11-3 run-rule victory against visiting Syracuse on Saturday afternoon at Collins Family Softball Complex.
With the effort, Muffley moved her batting average to .405 with a team-leading 15 runs scored on the season for the Golden Hurricane (11-7).
Sarah Briers also had two hits in the game, while Alexis Perry drove in three runs. The offense backed pitcher Kassidy Scott, who improved to 2-1 on the season with three unearned runs allowed off three hits in six innings of work.
The Orange (5-11) scored two unearned runs in the second and another in the fourth for a 3-0 lead before the Hurricane plated the last 11 runs of the contest.
Perry got TU on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a sacrifice fly and the home squad took the lead for good with a four-run fifth inning.
With the bases loaded, Muffley and Haley Meinen each drew walks to tie the game at 3-3. Perry then brought two home with a single up the middle for a 5-3 cushion. Meinen and Morgan Neal executed a double-steal for another run before Rylie Spell capped the six-run frame with a run-scoring double.
In the sixth, Muffley earned another bases-loaded walk and pinch-hitter Aubree Seaney made it 9-3 with a sacrifice fly to right. Neal then ended the game with a two-RBI double off the wall in center field for the 11-3 run-rule win.
Tulsa will be back in action on March 8 when it will face Grand Canyon in Norman, Okla.
