NORMAN, Okla. — Tulsa scored seven runs over the final three innings to take an 8-0 run-rule victory in six innings over Grand Canyon on Friday afternoon at Marita Hynes Field.

Josie Muffley posted a season-high four hits in as many at-bats with a double and RBI to lead a potent offensive attack for the Golden Hurricane (12-7). The hot bats from TU backed another strong outing for fellow freshman Chenise Delce, who improved to 5-3 on the season as she scattered three hits with five strikeouts over six scoreless frames.

Yesenia Morrison, who pitched the Antelopes (12-11) past No. 1 Florida State earlier in the week, took the loss after she yielded 10 hits and eight runs in 5.1 innings of work.

Tulsa started fast in the bottom of the first and got on the board when Muffley ripped a one-out double to left field. The hit scored the speedy Mikayla Whitten, who reached base after being hit by a pitch.

Delce kept Grand Canyon off balance in the batter's box and got help from her defense as Rylie Spell threw out a runner at second to end the second and Morgan Neal helped turn a double play to close the fourth.

In the bottom of the fourth, TU got rolling and would not look back. Again, it was Muffley who got things started with a single up the middle and a stolen base. She would score on an error to make it 2-0 before Spell's two-out, two-RBI double to the gap in right-center.

The Hurricane pushed the lead to 5-0 on Neal's RBI single in the fifth and ended the contest with three more runs in the sixth.

MaKayla Jackson started the sixth with a pinch-hit single for the first hit of her collegiate career. She was replaced by Sarah Briers on the basepaths and Briers would score on an error. Julia Hollingsworth drove in a run with a hit through the left side and a bases-loaded walk to Neal ended the game at 8-0.

The Hurricane will face Northwestern (14-4) at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Marita Hynes Field.
