NORMAN, Okla. – No. 2 Oklahoma won its 20th straight game with a 10-1 victory over visiting Tulsa on Wednesday evening at Marita Hynes Field.
Josie Muffley led the Golden Hurricane (21-10) by going 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Julia Hollingsworth, Chenise Delce, Sarah Briers and Tori Stafford all recorded hits for TU. Samantha Pochop took the loss in the circle with three earned runs allowed in two innings.
Giselle Juarez improved to 14-0 for the Sooners (30-2) after she yielded a hit to go along with five strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Sydney Romero homered twice and Grace Green also homered and drove in three runs.
Oklahoma scored two unearned runs off three Tulsa errors in the first inning and pushed the lead to 7-0 with a five-run second. Another run an inning later made it 8-0 before the Hurricane got on the board in the top of the fifth.
With two outs, Hollingsworth singled to advance Tori Stafford to third base. Muffley then singled to center field to push one run across to break up the shutout.
However, the Sooners ended the contest in the bottom of the inning on Green's two-out, two-run homer to left field for the 10-1 final.
Tulsa will be back in action this weekend for a three-game series at Collins Family Softball Complex against Memphis (18-14, 2-1). First pitch of the series opener is set for 5 p.m. on Friday, March 29.
