WATCH COACH MONTGOMERY INTERVIEW

TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team began spring drills on the first day of the month and have completed three practice sessions going into the weekend.

"I'm really pleased with our energy level. Our defense right now is really in sync with nine of those starters coming back, and they're a little ahead of the offense right now. But I like the way we're competing offensively. We have some really good battles going on, we just need to continue to get better every day," said Tulsa head coach Philip Montgomery.

Tulsa will practice four more times before taking off for Spring Break Week, March 16-24.

"I want to make sure our bread and butter base stuff is in and that we have it down pat before spring break so when we come back, we continue to move forward. We don't want to spend a day or two to make sure we're in the right spot. So being able to come back after that time off and execute and still add to what we're doing is what I'm looking for," Montgomery added.

Following spring break, Tulsa will be back on the field Tuesday, March 26 for its first of the final eight spring practice sessions. The Annual Spring Game is set for Saturday, April 6, at 11:00 a.m. at H.A. Chapman Stadium.
