Box Score | Season Stats

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to come from behind for the second straight day to defeat UCF, this time by a score of 3-2, on Friday to claim its fifth consecutive American Athletic Conference series.

Rylie Spell hit her fourth homer of the season, while Julia Hollingsworth went 2-for-3 and scored the game-winning run on a hit off the bat of Haley Meinen for the Golden Hurricane (30-15, 11-3). Samantha Pochop (9-6) picked up the win in relief of Chenise Delce, who allowed one run on four hits with four strikeouts in six innings of work.

Meanwhile, Damaria Cannon had a pinch-hit double for the Knights (28-16, 7-7), who lost their seventh straight game. Alea White (20-11) took the loss in the circle after she allowed an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh. Breanna Vasquez yielded two runs on seven hits in her six-plus frames.

Spell staked the Hurricane out to an early lead with her solo homer in the bottom of the second. The senior took a 2-1 pitch from Vasquez over the wall in center field for the 1-0 advantage.

However, Cannon came through with a two-out RBI-double in the top of the fourth to tie the score and then the Knights took a 2-1 lead on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh.

Down to its final three outs, the Hurricane rally began on Alexis Perry's leadoff single to left field. That would be the end for Vasquez, who was lifted in favor of White in the circle for UCF.

Perry moved to scoring position on a wild pitch and advanced to third when Hollingsworth beat out an infield single to the right side. Hollingsworth then stole second to set the stage for Meinen's game-winning hit.

The senior lined a ball sharply to right field to drive home Perry and tie the game. The ball went under the glove of the UCF right fielder and the error allowed Hollingsworth to score from second to end the game with the 3-2 final.

Tulsa will look to earn a series sweep of the Knights when the teams meet again at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20 at Collins Family Softball Complex.
