No. 25 Tulsa Takes Series with 3-1 Win on Senior Day

TULSA, Okla. – Rylie Spell hit a two-run double to help No. 25 Tulsa defeat visiting Wichita State, 3-1, to take the American Athletic Conference series on Senior Day at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
Fellow senior Morgan Neal went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for the Golden Hurricane (33-16, 14-4), who have won all six conference series this season and assured a finish of no worse than second in the league standings with three road games to play.
Alexis Perry also went 2-for-3 and drove in Tulsa's other run, while Samantha Pochop improved to 11-6 in the circle after she gave up just one run on three hits with six strikeouts.
Ryliegh Buck provided the only offense for the Shockers (29-23, 10-8), with a solo homer in the top of the fourth.
The Hurricane wasted no time putting the pressure on Wichita State as the home squad tallied two runs in the bottom of the first and would hold the lead for the rest of the afternoon.
Julia Hollingsworth walked to start the contest before Neal's single up the middle. After a flyout, Spell ripped a double that landed on the foul line in left and rolled to the corner. Both Hollingsworth and Neal came around to score for the 2-0 advantage.
Neal started the bottom of the third with a double off the wall in right and scored one batter later, when Perry grounded a single back up the middle to make it 3-0.
That was enough for Pochop, who did not allow a hit until Buck's solo homer to start the fourth.
The Shockers threatened in the top of the seventh as the visitors loaded the bases with two outs, but Pochop locked down the victory with a popup to end the game.
Tulsa will close the regular-season next weekend with a three-game series at UConn (19-27, 7-11), beginning on Friday, May 3.
