STILLWATER, Okla. – Tulsa split a pair of games on Friday, falling to No. 13 Oklahoma State, 13-10, before defeating BYU, 6-4, to advance to the championship round of the NCAA Stillwater Regional.

The Golden Hurricane (37-19) will take on Oklahoma State (41-14) at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 18. The Hurricane will need to defeat the Cowgirls twice to win the regional.

"It's all hands on-deck," head coach John Bargfeldt said. "We have to think about what we have to do in the first game. Have that discipline at the plate, but also have that aggressive plan to where we're getting the barrel to the ball."

Game One
Haley Meinen hit two home runs and drove in a career-high four RBIs, but Oklahoma State hit four homers, including a go-ahead grand slam by Cheyenne Factor, on its way to a 13-10 win in the first game of the day.

The game was the highest-scoring contest between Tulsa and Oklahoma State and it was the third-highest scoring game in NCAA postseason history.

Chenise Delce and Rylie Spell also drove in two RBIs for the Golden Hurricane, while Morgan Neal hit her 17th double of the season and plated a run. Samantha Pochop took the loss and fell to 12-8 on the season.

Factor's four RBIs led the way for the Cowgirls (41-14), who advanced to meet the winner of the elimination bracket. Samantha Show also hit a three-run homer, while Sydney Pennington and Raquel Dominguez hit solo homers on a windy day at the ballpark.

Oklahoma State jumped out to a 4-0 lead with a run in the first, two in the second and another in the top of the third.

However, Meinen's three-run homer highlighted a five-run bottom of the third that gave TU a 5-4 advantage and set the stage for a wild, back-and-forth contest over the final four innings.

Delce sliced the OSU lead in half with a two-RBI single in the inning before Meinen's three-run shot gave the Hurricane its first lead of the day.

OSU tied it in the top of the fourth, but Tulsa scored three runs without a hit in the bottom of the fourth to push its lead to 8-5. But after a scoreless fifth inning, the Cowgirls scored eight runs over the final two innings to outlast TU.

Factor's grand slam capped a five-run sixth inning that gave OSU a 10-8 lead. Tulsa got one run back on Spell's sacrifice fly to make it 10-9 headed into the seventh inning.

Show's three-run homer came with two outs in the top of the seventh and pushed the OSU advantage to 13-9. Meinen hit her second round-tripper of the game to start the bottom of the seventh, but Tulsa could not complete the comeback, falling 13-10.

Game Two
Kassidy Scott went the distance in the circle and Tulsa held off BYU, 6-4, on Friday night to stay alive and advance to Saturday's championship round.

Sarah Briers and Chenise Delce each had a pair of RBIs for the Golden Hurricane to back Scott, who gave up just two earned runs to improve to 9-6 on the season. Tori Stafford also went 2-for-3 at the plate and Rylie Spell picked up her fifth RBI of the regional in the victory.

Meanwhile, the Cougars (30-26) were eliminated despite a 2-for-3, two-RBI performance from Erin Miklus. Arissa Paulson took the lossand fell to 15-12 after she allowed six hits and five runs in four innings of work.

BYU jumped ahead with a run in the top of the first, but TU answered back with two in the bottom of the panel and it would not trail again. After the Hurricane loaded the bases with one out, Delce came through with a two-RBI hit up the middle for the 2-1 advantage.

The lead ballooned to 5-1 in the fourth on Briers' two-run double and an RBI groundout off the bat of Julia Hollingsworth.

BYU cut into the deficit with a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to make it 5-4, but Spell drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth for an insurance run. Scott then worked around a single and walk in the top of the seventh to close out the victory.
