8/29/2019 11:57:00 AM | Men's Soccer

The Tulsa men's soccer team will begin the regular season with a pair of home games this holiday weekend at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  TU will host Gonzaga on Friday, August 30 beginning at 7:30 pm, as well as Lipscomb on Monday, September 2 beginning at 7:00 pm.

The Friday contest is a double-header with the women's team hosting Little Rock at 5:00 pm.  One $5 general admission ticket will get you in to both games, and there will be free pizza, corn hole and other games for the students between games.

On Monday the Tulsa-Lipscomb game is "Bark in the Park" so fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the game.  Puppy Haven will be in attendance with dogs up for adoption as well, and there will be free water for the dogs.  Fans can also purchase $1 hot dogs at the concession stand.

Tickets are $5 general admission and can be purchased at the north ticket gate, online at TulsaHurricane.com/tickets or by calling the TU Athletic Ticket Office at 918.631.4688.

Fans unable to attend the match in person can watch it live on TulsaHurricane.com/watch.  There is a 24HR Pass, a Monthly Pass and Yearly Pass that allow you to watch all TU home men's and women's soccer, volleyball and softball games depending on the package purchased.

Tulsa returns 19 players, including seven starters, from a year ago, and welcomes 11 newcomers to the roster under the direction of Head Coach Tom McIntosh, who is beginning his 25th year.

The Golden Hurricane attack is led by junior midfielder Chase Bromstedt, who was a unanimous selection to the American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team.  As a sophomore, Bromstedt picked up The American all-conference second team accolades, while ranking first on the team in goals (4), assists (6), points (14), shots (38) and shots on goal (14).  He also ranked sixth in assists, eighth in points and 10th in goals among the league's best.

Gonzaga is coming off a 2-14-2 season a year ago, including a 0-7 mark in the West Coast Conference.  Demitrius Kigeya was named to the Preseason All-West Coast Conference Team, while the Bulldogs were selected to finish seventh as a team in the preseason WCC poll.  Tulsa has a 2-0 lead in the series over Gonzaga, including 2-1 wins in 1993 and 2002.

Lipscomb posted a 10-10-1 mark last season, including a 5-1 record in the ASUN, and advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.  The Bisons landed four players, seniors Austin Eager and John Wynia, junior Ben Locke, and sophomore Noah Gulden, on the 2019 ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team, and were voted to the top spot in the Preseason ASUN Coaches Poll.  Tulsa won the only previous meeting with Lipscomb, a 4-1 decision in 2010.
