THE GAME
• This is the 55th meeting between Tulsa and Houston and the 11th as American Athletic Conference members.
• Houston is 12-3 on the season  ...  the Cougars come into Saturday's match-up on a 6-game winning streak which started with a victory over UTEP ... Houston has key wins over South Carolina, Georgia Tech and Washington.
• This will be the first of two games between Tulsa and Houston as the Golden Hurricane will travel to Houston on Feb. 19.
• Houston enters the game 2-0 in the American Athletic Conference while Tulsa is 1-1 in conference play.

THE SERIES
• The series is tied at 27-27 ... the Hurricane is 15-9 at home against Houston and 10-17 on the road.
• The  Cougars have won the last 5 meetings against the Hurricane including both of last season's meetings.
• Tulsa's last win against Houston came on Feb. 7, 2016 as the Hurricane won 77-63 in Tulsa ... the teams have played 10 times in the Reynolds Center with Tulsa holding the 7-3 advantage.
• The last meeting between the two teams came on Jan. 27, 2019 as the Hurricane lost to the Cougars , 77-65, in Tulsa.
• The first game between the two teams came in the 1950-51 season as Tulsa defeated Houston on the road with a final of 50-45 in a Missouri Valley Conference game.

LAST MEETING AGAINST HOUSTON
• The Hurricane took on the No. 17 Cougars in a conference home game on Jan. 27, 2019, in the Reynolds Center, as the Cougars won by a score of 77-65.
• Tulsa was led by DaQuan Jeffries who led four Tulsa players with double-digit scoring with 17 points, Jeriah Horne off of the bench put in 15  ...  Martins Igbanu and Sterling Taplin had 10 and 11 points, respectively.
• Tulsa assisted on 15 of their 22 shots and scored 20 fast break points ... they also outscored the Cougars in the paint 26-22.
• The Hurricane trailed 45-29 at halftime ... the Cougars were led by Armoni Brooks, who led all scorers, with 22 points ... Fabian White Jr. had 14 points while freshman Nate Hinton came off the bench to score 13.

LAST WIN AGAINST THE COUGARS
• The Hurricane took on the Cougars at home on Feb. 7, 2016, as Tulsa won 77-63.
• Tulsa's Pat Birt tied his career-high in scoring with 27 points ... 19 of his points came in the first half giving the Hurricane a 34-23 lead at the break.
James Woodard added 15 points, Rashad Smith 12 and Shaquille Harrison 10 for Tulsa in the win.
• Out of the break, Tulsa went on a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 18 ... they controlled the boards the entire game out-rebounding the Cougars 33-22.
• Tulsa shot 52-percent from the field and 42-percent from three-point range, knocking down 8-of-19 treys.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
• Houston was picked to win The American Conference tying with Memphis for 1st in the preseason poll ... the Cougars received 7 first place votes.
• The Cougars are 2-0 in conference this season defeating UCF 78-63 and taking down Temple on the road, 78-74.
• Houston is 3-1 on the road this year with their only loss coming at Oregon on Nov. 22 with a final of 78-66.
• The Cougars have four players who average over 10 points a game with Quentin Grimes (14.1 ppg), Nate Hinton (12.5 ppg), Caleb Mills (12.3 ppg) and Fabian White Jr. (11.0).
• DeJon Jarreau was named to the American Athletic Conference's preseason first team … White Jr. and Grimes have been named The American's Player of the Week once this season.
