The Spotlight Shines on Tulsa Football, the City, Fans and University

TULSA, Okla. –– The spotlight will shine on The University of Tulsa this weekend as the Golden Hurricane football team will take on its third straight top-15 ranked team as the No. 8 Cincinnati Bearcats come to town.
The game will be aired nationally on ESPN2 at 11:00 a.m. (CT), Saturday. Oct. 17.
"As alums, football fans and citizens of Tulsa and the surrounding communities there is no better time than now to support our hometown team," said Tulsa native, TU alum and current Director of Athletics Rick Dickson. "It is critical to our success for the community to embrace TU athletics. In my previous tenure at TU, we experienced and benefited from that relationship between TU and the Tulsa community."
"The support of the Blue and Gold comes in many forms. It may not come in attendance at games, especially during this time of COVID, it may be just by wearing the colors around the city or cheering at the top of your lungs when the Golden Hurricane is playing on television," said Dickson. "TU athletes wear 'TULSA' proudly across their jerseys representing our city, our fans and our university, so we ask our community to join us as one team in representing Tulsa and supporting our student-athletes."
"Our "Loyal Always True" marketing campaign means that we are loyal and always true to our city, our fans and our university," added Dickson.
Tulsa and Cincinnati will return to action after both teams had a bye week this past Saturday. Limited tickets are still available by calling 918.631.GoTU (4688) or going online at TulsaHurricane.com/tickets.
In its last outing, Tulsa captured a 34-26 road win over the 11th-ranked UCF Knights. It marked the first win over a top-15 ranked team since the 1991 season, as many older fans will remember 'The Miracle on 11th Street' as the Hurricane defeated the #15 Texas A&M Aggies, also in come-from-behind fashion.
For its performance, Tulsa was named the FWAA/Reveal Suits National Team of the Week.
Cincinnati improved to 3-0 and 1-0 in American Athletic Conference play with a 28-7 victory over USF two weeks ago.
Fans can show their support for the #LoyalAlwaysTrue campaign by supporting Tulsa student-athletes with a contribution to the Loyal Always True Fund.
The Loyal Always True Fund was created to help offset the direct costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, such as COVID-19 testing, personal protective equipment and sanitizing equipment that help keep our student-athletes safe and healthy. It is anticipated that these additional costs will exceed $200,000 for the 2020-21 academic year.
TU is calling on all Hurricane fans to give assistance during this challenging time! Donate in amounts of $11, $111 or $1,111 to show your support! The multiples of 11 was chosen to signify Tulsa's 34-26 win over the No. 11 UCF Knights two weeks ago.
Everyone who donates to the #LoyalAlwaysTrue Fund will be entered into a drawing to win one of these great prizes:
• Game-Worn TU Football Helmet
• Game-Worn Adidas Football Jersey
