TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa football squad practiced for two hours Saturday morning on Harwell Field, in what was the second day back after a nine-day layoff.

"I thought we were just sharper today. Yesterday felt like a day one all over again. Today, we saw a really good progression in things. Depths in routes, guys understanding where to get to and, defensively, we did a much better job of getting aligned and being ready to play defense," said Montgomery.

"It was good to get back in the flow," added Montgomery. "Obviously, we had a lot of meeting time the past week but doing it on the field is something different and it was good to see the guys carry a lot of that knowledge back today."

With classes beginning Monday, Montgomery talked about how his team is locked in and focused on what needs to be accomplished.

"The tough part is that we really missed a pretty good chunk of camp. Your time constraints during camps are not as much as when school is in session," said Montgomery. "We have a lot to get done. We're going to take advantage of tomorrow as well.

"Everything changes on Monday. You have to get used to a different schedule when classes begin. We know we have some hurdles in front of us, but our guys are locked in right now. They know we have to keep our foot on the gas and keep going. I think they're ready to accept that challenge and get done what we need to get done," Montgomery added.

Tulsa will be back on the practice field Sunday morning.
