Tulsa Women’s Tennis Opens Season with this Weekend’s Hurricane Invite

Spectators will not be permitted at Tennis through the indoor season

TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa women's tennis team opens the 2021 season this weekend with the four-team Hurricane Invite at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Tulsa will square off against UCA, Louisiana Tech and Wyoming during the two-day event that begins Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Spectators will not be permitted for Tulsa women's and men's tennis matches through the indoor season.
A year ago, Tulsa ended the shortened season with a 9-4 record and last played a team match a year ago this March 9.
The Hurricane are led in 2021 by the nations' 22nd-ranked doubles team of Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner. Okalova also enters the season ranked No. 86 in the ITA singles rankings. A year ago, the tandem posted an overall 19-7 record, while in singles play Okalova had a 14-6 mark playing at the No. 1 position.
The Tulsa women's season will continue with two matches next weekend in Norman, Okla., against Oklahoma (Jan. 23) and Texas Tech (Jan. 24), before finishing the month with a home match against No. 25 Kansas (Jan. 31).
