TULSA, Okla.  –– The University of Tulsa cross-country teams will run at the 2021 Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course, home to the Wisconsin Badgers cross country teams.

The women are running a 6k race, while the men will run an 8k. There are two races per gender, with the woman's "B" race beginning at 11 a.m. and the men's "B" at 11:40. The women's "A" race starts at 12:20 p.m. and the men's "A" will get started at 1 p.m.

The Golden Hurricane participated in the event in 2019, but the pandemic meant no race the following season. Peter Lynch paced the men with a time of 23:56.1, good enough for 14th, and helped Tulsa to a third-place finish. The woman placed 18th.

Teams from all over the country are coming to compete. The men's race features more than half the top-25 teams in the nation with 13. Third-ranked Stanford is the highest-ranked team in attendance. Not to be outdone, the women's race will have 16 of their top-25, including No.2 BYU.

The women are coming off a runners-up performance at the 33rd Annual Chili Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. Caroline Miller and Katharina Pesendorfer led the way for the Hurricane with a 10th and 12th place finish as the team finished second to the hosts, Arkansas. Miller navigated the course in 17:16.1 and Pesendorfer in 17:20.0
