The Tulsa women's soccer team battled East Carolina to a 2-2 double overtime tie on Sunday afternoon at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  The Golden Hurricane moved to 6-7-2 on the season and 1-4-1 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Pirates moved to 7-7-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the league.

"I thought the team fought hard," Head Coach Jim Rhein said.  "They gave everything they had and we got good minutes from our bench.  Grayson Schimmels was awesome with as little playing time as she's seen recently, and then Emily and Mia both had fantastic goals.  It was exciting to watch and a fair result."

Mia Darden put Tulsa on the board with just 4:12 ticked off the clock as she shot from 20 yards out and it rolled into the lower left corner of the net to give TU the 1-0 advantage.

Haley McWhirter drilled in a shot from 22 yards out on the right side into the lower left corner off a cross from Tori Riggs to even the score in the 19th minute.  Neither team found the back of the net and they went into the break tied, 1-1.

Emily Brandenburg headed in a score at the 55:16 mark to put Tulsa up once again, but a goal by Riggs in the 74th minute evened the score for the second time of the contest.  The two teams battled for the final 16 minutes of regulation and both overtime periods, but the score remained tied.

Darden had a team-best four shots, while Karsen Aguirre, Isold Runarsdottir and Madison Tokarchik all added two attempts.  Emma Malsy logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up four saves.

ECU had a 20-16 lead in shots, including a 6-5 edge in shots on goal, and an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, October 24 against SMU beginning at 1:00 pm in Dallas.
