
Tulsa Women Take Second at Chili Pepper Festival

Fayetteville, Ark. –– The Tulsa women's cross-country team finished runners-up at the 33rd Annual Chili Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. on Friday evening.

The Hurricane women finished second out of 37 teams with 132 points and average time of 17:32.64. The Tulsa men had four runners and didn't have record a team score. No. 10 Arkansas took the top spot for the women with a score of 45 and average time of 17:06.86. Colorado School of Mines won the men's event with a point total of 39.

Caroline Miller navigated the course in 17:16.1 and finished 10th to pace the Hurricane. Katharina Pesendorfer was a few seconds behind her at 17:20.0 and placed 12th.

Tulsa had three more runners finish in the top-45 as Chloe Hershenow (17:36.9) crossed the finish line in 30th, Layla Roebke (17:40.8) in 35th and Alice Newcombe (17:49.4) in 45th. Keely Jones finished in 17:58.5 to place 52nd, Avery Hill (18:37.9) took 111th and Chloe McEachran recorded a 18:47.0 to round out the Tulsa runners. Â
For the men, Max Nores led the Hurricane runners in 62nd place with a time of 25:21.7. Pete Johnson took 133rd in 26:10.2. Ben Black (26:56.1) and Colton Palmer (27:03.9) finished 200th and 209th respectively.

Both teams will be in action next at the Nuttycombe Invitational, Oct. 15, in Madison, Wis.
