Tulsa Men Place Third at NCAA Regional, Tulsa Women Finish in 7th Place

IOWA CITY, Iowa –– The nation's 10th-ranked Tulsa men's cross-country team finished in third place at the NCAA Midwest Regional Friday afternoon, while the Golden Hurricane women placed seventh overall at the regional.
 
The Hurricane men scored 65 points and finished behind the nation's No. 3-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys and the No. 4 Iowa State Cyclones.
 
The NCAA selection show is scheduled for 4 p.m. (CT) Saturday as this year's NCAA Championship Meet with be raced at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla., next Saturday, Nov. 20. The Tulsa men will be looking to make their 12th NCAA finals trip in the last 15 years.
 
Tulsa claimed six of the top-25 individual spots on the 10K Ashton Cross Country Course Friday afternoon. Senior Scott Beattie clocked a third-place time of 30:23.15, finishing behind the nation's top runner Wesley Kiptoo of Iowa State and Illinois' Jonathan Davis.
 
The Hurricane also saw Cormac Dalton take 11th place in a time of 30:28.84, while Peter Lynch clocked a 13th place time of 30:31.46 to finish among the top-15. Michael Power came across the finish line in 17th place in a time of 30:36.91, followed by Shay McEvoy (30:49.44) and Isaac Akers (30:55.13) in 21st and 23rd place, respectively.
 
Malte Propp was Tulsa's seventh runner with a time of 31:31.29 for 42nd place to close out the Hurricane runners.

The Tulsa women scored 263 points for its top-10 finish as junior Katharina Pesendorfer finished in 22nd place for Tulsa's best 6K time of 21:17.06. Fellow junior Caroline Miller placed 29th overall with a time of 21:21.67 to give two Hurricane runners top-30 performances.
 
Tulsa also saw Chloe Hershenow clock a time of 21:47.59 for 63rd place and was followed by Chloe McEachran in 72nd place with a time of 21:56.10. Alice Newcombe placed 80th with a time of 22:02.44 and Sara Scott finished in 94th place in a time of 22:13.30. Keely Jones closed out Tulsa's runners with a time of 22:22.06 for 103rd place in the field of 225 runners.
