DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –– The University of Tulsa men's basketball team is in Daytona Beach, Fla. to take on Rhode Island at the Oceans Center as part of the Sunshine Slam Tournament on Saturday evening.

Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. (CT) and the entire tournament is streamed through Flosports.

Tulsa (2-1) enters the tournament having beat Oregon State, 64-58, on Monday night. Rhode Island (3-0) comes in having defeated Boston College, 57-49, on Nov. 17. Boston College is a potential opponent for the Golden Hurricane, as the Eagles play on the other side of the bracket against Utah on Saturday. However, the meeting between the Eagles and Rams was not part of the tournament.

This is the third meeting between Tulsa and Rhode Island, with the Hurricane having won both previous games. Tomorrow's tipoff will mark 21 years to the day since the most recent game when Tulsa beat the Rams 89-80 at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. The first meeting was a year earlier on Nov. 21, 1999, when TU left Providence, R.I. with a 91-66 win.

Each team has already hosted a game for the Sunshine Slam. Tulsa dropped a 59-58 decision to Air Force, and Rhode Island dispatched Bryant 83-64. The winner of tomorrow's matchup will go on to meet the winner of Boston College and Utah on Sunday evening at 6:30 (CT). The two teams that lose will meet in a consolation game earlier in the afternoon at 4:30 (CT).
