EDWARDS SHINES IN TU DEBUT

• Freshman Imani Edwards made her Hurricane debut at Texas A&M, leading the Hurricane in batting average (.625), hits (5), total bases (8) and slugging percentage (1.000).

• Edwards came to the plate for the first time in the opening game against the Aggies as a pinch-hitter ... in two at bats the infielder went 1-2 with a double down the left field line.

• She drew her first start in the second game of the series, batting in the two-hole and playing short-stop ... Edwards went 3-4 from the plate with a triple and a run scored.  

• The Tomball, Texas native closed out the series in her home state by recording one of the four TU hits, while drawing two walks ... she also stole her second base of the season during the game.

TULSA BATS POP OFF

• During opening weekend against the Texas A&M Aggies, Tulsa hit the ball well scoring 14 runs in three games.

Imani Edwards, Kylie Norwood and Alexis Perry led the charge for TU going a combined 12-28 with three doubles, a triple a home run and 6 runs batted in.

• The Hurricane 1, 2 and 3 hole hitters in the second game of the series carried the Hurricane to 6 runs scored ... Norwood went 2-4 with 2 runs, Edwards was 3-4 with a run and Perry ended the day 2-3 with 3 RBIs.

• Perry hit the only home run of the season for Tulsa sending a shot over the center fielder's head in the top of the 7th inning during the season opener.

THE OSU/TU TOURNAMENT

• The Hurricane will co-host the OSU/TU Tournament this weekend March 5-7 at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

• Tulsa will host double-headers in consecutive days, welcoming New Mexico on Friday and Omaha on Saturday.

• TU will close out the tournament on the road at Oklahoma State on Sunday ... it will be the first contest against former Hurricane head coach John Bargfeldt, who is an assists with the Cowboys

• The double-header against New Mexico will start at 3:00 p.m. Friday, while the Omaha matchup will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday ... the tournament finale will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
