Tulsa Dominates Senior Day Defeating the Shockers 10-6

TULSA, Okla. – The Hurricane bats come alive on senior day, as TU scores 10 runs, including 4 home runs to take down the Wichita State Shockers 10-6 Sunday afternoon at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
 
Chenise Delce (7-6) drew the start in the circle, but she started the scoring off for the Hurricane in the bottom of the first inning with her first home run of the season.
 
The Hurricane continued the onslaught of home runs in the bottom of the third. Celyna Shaw started the inning with a solo shot to left field, as the ball landed on 6th street. Kylie Norwood followed Shaw with a homer to left center, giving the Hurricane a 3-0 advantage.
 
With 2 outs in the inning Alexis Perry recorded her 7th home run of the season, lacing a ball over the left field fence, giving Tulsa a home run inning.
 
After the Shockers scored a run in the 4th and 5th, Tulsa began the bottom of the 5th with back-to-back singled from Norwood and Haley Morgan. The runners both advanced on a wild pitch, before an error from the pitcher scored Norwood.
 
Alexis Perry walked and Aubree Seaney singled scoring another TU run. Imani Edwards' fielders' choice scored the 7th Hurricane run. With one out, senior Kyndal Pirtle singled home two more giving Tulsa the 9-2 advantage.
 
The Shockers fought back, scoring 4 runs in the top of the 6th on back-to-back two-out singles to cut the Hurricane lead to 9-6.
 
The Hurricane answered in the bottom of the inning, Perry drove home Morgan on an RBI single after Haley was hit by a pitch. Morgan's 21 career HBPs is now 2nd all-time in TU history.
 
Senior Kassidy Scott closed down the Shockers in the top of the 7th with a strikeout and two ground outs to give TU the 10-6 victory.
 
The Hurricane improves to 22-13 on the season and 13-6 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Shockers falls to 37-10-1 on the year and 18-5-1 in AAC action.
 
During senior day, the Hurricane honored the 4 current seniors in Alexis Perry, Kyndal Pirtle, Kassidy Scott and Sarah Briers, while also honoring the 2 from last season in Madison Higley and Mikayla Whitten.
