
Tulsa’s Patrick Dever Qualifies for NCAA Championship in 5,000m

Tulsa's Patrick Dever qualified for the NCAA Championship in the 5,000m run with his 11th-place finish at the NCAA West Regional at E.B. Cushing Stadium in Bryan-College Station, Texas. Dever also earned a spot in the NCAA Championship in the 10,000m run with his fifth-place finish earlier this week.
Dever turned in a time of 13:58.16, just 15.46 seconds behind Iowa State's Wesley Kiptoo in first place. Dever's time was 30.08 seconds behind his personal best set earlier this season at the John McDonnell Invite. Isaac Akers was 27th in the same event with a time of 14:23.19.
In the 3,000m steeplechase, Ashley Barnes turned in a time of 10:19.63 for 22nd place, while Katharina Pesendorfer was 41st in a time of 10:44.00. Barnes had a season-best time of 10:16.77 at The American Championship earlier this month, while Pesendorfer's best time came in the 2019 NCAA West Preliminary (10:14.44).
