Tulsa Falls 6-3 on Walk-Off Saturday

HOUSTON, Texas – The Hurricane uses a 2-run home run in the top of the 7th inning to tie the game at 3-3, but the Houston Cougars hit a walk off 3-run home run to take a 6-3 win Saturday afternoon in the Cougar Softball Stadium.
Entering the 7th inning, the Hurricane trailed the Cougars 3-1. After Celyna Shaw reached first on a dropped third strike, Kylie Norwood sent a two-run home run over the fence, tying the contest at 3-3.
Houston began the bottom of the 7th inning with a double, before flying out to center field. After a single moved the Cougar runners to 2nd and 3rd base, Houston connected on a 3-run walk-off home run to take the win.
Samantha Pochop started the game for TU, going 3.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 4 Cougars. Sara Llamas-Howell (1-5) came in to relieve Pochop, pitching 2.2 innings, allowing all 3 runs and 3 hits in the 7th inning.
The Cougars began the scoring with a two-run home run in the 3rd inning and a solo blast in the bottom of the 4th, taking a 3-0 lead.
The Hurricane fought back with a solo homer to left field by Chenise Delce in the top of the 6th.
Tulsa falls to 23-15 overall on the season and 14-8 in American Athletic Conference competition, while Houston improves to 17-31 on the year and 8-15 in AAC play.
The Hurricane and Cougars finish the series tomorrow, May 9 at 12:00 p.m. at the Cougar Softball Stadium.
