
Tulsa Student-Athletes End Academic Year with Outstanding Success in the Classroom

TULSA, Okla. –– Not only did The University of Tulsa athletic teams enjoy success on the field of play in the abbreviated 2020-21 athletic season, but Golden Hurricane student-athletes also displayed their prowess in the classroom.
Tulsa student-athletes ended the spring semester with a combined 3.233 cumulative grade point average. A total of 15 Hurricane teams reached at least a 3.30 GPA, while 70 percent of student-athletes achieved at least a 3.0 grade point average.
There were 244 student-athletes that recorded a 3.0 GPA or higher and 110 of those had a perfect 4.0 GPAs.
"Hats off to the scholar-athletes of The University of Tulsa who continued their tradition of excellence in academic prowess while prospering competitively in a year which they competed in six American Athletic Conference Championships, while 15 of 17 sports claimed over a 3.0 GPA," said Director of Athletics Rick Dickson.
The women's volleyball team had the highest team grade point average for Tulsa's 10 female sports teams with a 3.837 GPA, while for the men the cross-country team led the way with a 3.665 GPA.
On the field, Hurricane teams won three conference championships – women's cross country, men's cross country and women's golf – while three teams finished as the conference runner-up – football, men's soccer and women's tennis.
