PRACTICE 7: Tulsa Back on the Field

Following an off day, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team was back on Harwell Field Thursday morning in 90-degree temperatures with a 101-degree heat index.
"We had more heat today, which was good. We added a little more to our practice and extended it a little bit," said Tulsa Head Coach Philip Montgomery. "It was the first day that we really worked inside runs. We worked some ones vs. ones today. It was good to see our guys react to that."
"it was a spirited workout. Our guys came out with a purpose today," added Montgomery.
The Hurricane work the special teams in each practice.
"We're working two special teams every practice right now. We felt like we needed to install our special teams a little bit quicker due to changes in the schedule," said Montgomery. "We're working two special teams a day on a three-day rotation in order to have some repetitiveness. Today, we worked punt coverage at the first of practice and kickoff at the end. We'll do that for the next three days. This is the second round of working these elements of special teams. We've already worked punt return and kick return together."
Tulsa will be back on the field Friday morning.
